Ribena Facts

What has changed about Ribena?

In the past few weeks you may have noticed some exciting changes to the RIbena family. Over the past year, we have been very busy making improvements to the Ribena range ensuring its refreshing blackcurrant taste will continue to be enjoyed for generations to come.

Fresh new look
The first exciting change you're sure to notice on the Ribena shelf is that the old favourite has had a great new makeover. We hope you enjoy the fresh and natural new look and we are proud to welcome you to the rich new world of Ribena! Keep an eye out in-store as Ribena's new look began to roll out in January 2008

Ready to drink (RTD) reformulation
The Ribena 'ready to drinks' (RTDs) have been reformulated and now each and every Ribena product is a rich source of vitamin C.

Daily intake guide
Ribena labels now include the daily intake guide to make it easier for you to see how each and every Ribena product fits into the daily dietary requirements of an average adult. Click through to our Products and Nutrition information section to find out more.

Will Ribena 'ready to drinks' taste different?

Changes in the formulation of the Ribena 'ready to drink' products were necessary to increase the level of vitamin C. However, we have worked hard to remain true to the great Ribena taste.

Have the Vitamin C levels changed in the syrups as well?

The Ribena syrup range of products have always been and still are a rich source of vitamin C.

What do you mean by a 'rich source'?

Ribena claims to be a 'rich source of vitamin C' because all Ribena products contain at least 50% of the (average adult) recommended dietary intake of vitamin C. For specific information on vitamin C provided per product, check out the product specific nutritional panel on each product or click here to visit our Products and Nutrition information section.

When will the new packaging be available?

Ribena's new packaging began to roll out across New Zealand from January 2008.

Where do the blackcurrants in Ribena come from?

All Ribena blackcurrants are 100% grown on New Zealand farms, mainly around Nelson. In fact, the area used to grow these blackcurrants covers an area equal to about 595 rugby fields! Once they're harvested each year, they're rushed into cool stores until they're lovingly pulped and processed into about 740,000 litres of concentrate.

What are Ribena's directions for use?

  • Use within a nutritious balanced diet
  • Not suitable for babies under 1 year
  • For children 1-3 years, maximum 1 serving a day
  • Drink chilled, refrigerate after opening and store below 30°C
